What a crazy four months our little family has endured. The rollercoaster of life has truly carried us through some very low and high points. It all started after Karmindy was born back in May. Twelve hours after her birth we were told she would need open heart surgery to repair two holes in her heart and widen a constricted aorta. We were devestated to think that our precious little girl would have to endure something so scary and life threatening in her short life time. Mark and Karmindy were life-flighted up to primary childrens hospital the morning after her birth. I joined them two days later. Dr. Kouretus and Dr. Hawkins operated on her when she was four days old! The Surgery was a success and we feel so very blessed and truly grateful to the skilled hands that performed her surgery. As well as to our Heavenly Father for letting her stay here in mortality with us. We are also very grateful for all the fasting and prayers of friends and family which were offered in Karmindys and our behalf. We know that this had a hand in having her here with us today.
We were able to take Karmindy home when she was three and a half weeks old. Karmindy came home with a NJ(Nasal Jejunum) feeding tube and was able to have a NG (Nasal Gastric) feeding tube placed at her one month well check up visit at Primary Children's. Over the course of the last few months after bringing her home, Karmindy has thrived and the Doctors are ecstatic about her progress.
In July, we found out that the company that Mark was working for in St. George was not doing so well. Instead of waiting to see if the company would pull through these hard economic times, we felt we needed to start looking for other jobs. We have been blessed by "Jumping ship" because the company still seems to be struggling.
In August, Mark found a job in the South Jordan Area. After looking in the area for homes and almost buying one, we felt the need to "slow down" and take a little more time in the house hunting pursuit. Luckily, we were able to sell our home in Ivins, which has also been another huge blessing because it is a dead market down in Southern Utah. Right now we are renting a darling twin home in a cute neighborhood that is close to shopping and a neighborhood park.
We feel very blessed through this whole experience and marvel at how our Heavenly Father has a hand in all things. I have come to love the quote by one of my Heroes, Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley, it says:
"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." -Jenkin Lloyd Jones
The past few months have been a journey of ups and downs, but I am so grateful that I have had my Husband by my side and the support of family and friends to help us get through this difficult journey. I am truly grateful for this roller coaster ride we call life. We love you all!
